Obiective:

General competences:

  1. the adequate use of the Romanian language both in receiving and producing messages in different communication situations;
  2. the use of means of thematic stylistic and structural analyses when receiving different literary and non-literary contexts ;
  3. supporting written and oral arguments with ideas in diverse communication situations.

Specific competences:

  1. a) COGNITIVE:              

At the end of the activity, the students will be able to:

O1 – Present the father’s importance in the novel

O2 – Identify the character’s features as a father.

O3 – State the message of the literary work.

  1. b)     Emotional :

O1 – To be willing to integrate the new knowledge in their own system of esthetical values  ;

O2 – To develop creative thinking and taste for literature.

Pregătirea:

Previous activity: Students had to prepare individual charts with the main elements in the novel- symbolical scenes where the  father- Ilie Moromete- appears.

Descriere:

Checking the reading charts in a group: using conversation and guided explanation the students are asked to present:

  1. How the novel appeared;
  2. The theme of the novel;
  3. The coordinates of the action of the novel;
  4. The writing technique .
  5. Conflicts between family members…………………………………….10 minutes.

Announcing the theme and the operational objectives:

The teacher writes on the blackboard the theme of the lesson Ilie Moromete – tată, stalpul familiei informs the students about the development of the activities.   ………………………………………..1-2minutes

Drawing students’ attention: the students watch a sequence from the movie made after the novel and observe the image of the father trying to analyse if he is an authoritarian parent or not. . …………….5minutes  

Guided learning:

  1. Students will be asked to identify other scenes in the novel where the father might look authoritarian or not. ( the scene of their coming from the field work, Niculae’s award winning , the acacia tree cutting, the club beating  ).                                 …………………………..5minutes
  2. Students will be split in to two groups  and the teacher initiates a debate on: Ilie Moromete is an authoritarian father. Students are split and receive charts with novel quotations.    ………………………..1 minute
  3. Each group will receive their task to solve in 10 minutes. Quotes from the novel with scenes to research the father’s attitude in order to sustain the retorts from the students in the opposing team (see annex)………………………10minutes
  4. After the time allotted expires the debate takes place, one student bringing arguments in favour and a memeber from the opposing team counter-argumetning the affirmation.                    ………10-15 minutes

Evaluation: The teacher checks the students’ activity on a chart all along the lesson.

Homework: The students will write an essay of about two pages in which they analyse the image of the father as the family center figure.
